Last Weekend at Grover Beach

Last weekend we drove down to Grover Beach to visit with Jim and Rex! It was great to see them, and we had a wonderful, relaxing weekend!

One of our favorite things to do is to go to the Arroyo Grande Farmers Market on Saturday. We got lots of great produce to bring home. Lee got some great shots of the displays of produce.

On Sunday we went to the Grover Beach Grange pancake breakfast! It's held on the first Sunday of each month, and is very yummy. Lee's great Aunt Elsie still works there, at the age of 88, so it's a great opportunity to see her, as well.

And we took lots of walks, which Rex loved! The weather was great, cool in the mornings, but warm in the afteroons.

We headed home on Monday, and took a different route - we got off of 101 at King City, and took the county road G15 to Hwy 25, which goes up the back side of the mountains, and past the east entrance of the Pinnacles National Monument. We stopped at the visitor center at the Pinnacles and got the Senior Park Pass, which is a lifetime pass for all national parks and monuments! We decided that this will be the best $10 we ever spent! I think that there might be a western national parks roadtrip in our future! :)

It's Pumpkin time!

Gorgeous rainbow peppers!

And the first of the winter squashes!

We brought home wonderful salad greens, including purple basil and arugula, yellow and green zucchini, and purple green beans! We haven't had the beans yet, but we're told that they turn green when cooked. Lee found some vine-ripened, non-girdled grapes that were fantastic. Jim found peaches, vine-ripened tomatoes and patty pan summer squash, and also got some wonderful home-made parmesean and black pepper bread - YUM!!
