Kelsey's baby shower

On Sunday we all went down to Bellingham to Val and Dave's for Kelsey and Zeb's baby shower!  Their first baby (our third great-granddaughter) is due at the end of October.  It was great to be there for the shower and visit with everyone.

Dave bar-b-qued chicken, we had lots of yummy side dishes and Marian made a fabulous cake and cupcakes.  We played fun shower games and Kelsey and Zeb got to open lots of cute baby clothes/gifts.

Then we took lots of pictures of everyone with Kelsey and Zeb and their baby - Great fun!!

Yummy food!

Our August visit with the Murphy's

We made a quick trip to the Pacific Northwest to visit with family!  Our first stop was Aldergrove with the Murphy's.  It was great to see everyone again!  We had a fire one evening and everyone enjoyed roasting marshmallows and making 'smores!

The kids love playing on the trampoline and Grandpa got great pictures of them in the air!

While we were there, Cathi, Don, Sean and Bailey went to a wedding.  We took care of Patience, Jordyn and Nick.  One of our favorite things to do in the summer there is to go to Krauses Berry Farm, right across the street.  The kids like going there, too, as they have great milkshakes!

One evening we went for a nice long walk - and the kids rode their bikes - great fun!  Harley got to come along as well!

Thanks for a great visit, everyone!  We love you lots and lots!

Family bike ride/walk!  We covered about three miles - it was great!!

Stern Grove

We attended the final concert of Stern Grove for 2013!  It was a spur of the moment decision to go and the weather was wonderful!  We packed a lunch, a bottle of wine, picked up the Sunday paper and some folding chairs and away we went.  The program for the last Sunday was opera - an introduction to some of the arias that will be performed for this year's opera season.

Great music, great weather, great fun!

Jim's birthday visit...

This was not only a significant birthday for Lee, but also a significant birthday for Jim, who turned 60 on August 14th!  He had a week of vacation from work, so he and Rex came up for a visit.  It was great to see them and to celebrate Jim's birthday with him.

We went for walks, into San Francisco to check out the America's Cup action, and took a walk along the waterfront in South San Francisco and watched the airplanes take off and land at SFO.  It's a very busy airport!

We had Jim's birthday dinner at the Basque Cultural Center in So. San Francisco, one of Jim's favorite restaurants in the area.

A great relaxing week!  Thanks for coming, Jim and Rex.

Roberta and Anne's wedding

On August 10th, we made a trip to Tahoe with Donna to attend Roberta and Anne's wedding!  Donna had flown in from New Jersey on the 8th and we met her on Saturday morning for our trip.  It was a beautiful day and Lake Tahoe was beautiful as well!

Donna and Roberta moved from New Jersey to San Francisco after they graduated from college and have remained close friends from that time, so there was no way she was missing this momentous occasion.  We were fortunate to be able to attend the wedding with Donna.

Roberta and Anne have been partners for over 20 years and with the change in the law in California, they were finally able to exchange marriage vows.  It was a beautiful ceremony and we are so happy for both of them.  Thanks, Roberta and Anne, for inviting us to your wedding and thanks, Donna for taking us to Tahoe!
