Carmel and Monterey with Jo and John

We spent a few days in Carmel.  The weather was beautiful and the trip down the coast was beautiful  We drove through the 17 Mile Drive to see the views there, which were quite amazing.  We had a cottage within walking distance to everything in Carmel which was great.  We revisited some of our favorite places, like the Hogs Breath Inn and Point Lobos.  These were all "firsts" for Jo and she loved it as much as we did.

Plaque on the 17 mile drive, before the Lone Cypress.  Sam Morse led the effort to protect this area of the coastline

And the famous lone cypress!

Jo and John with the lone cypress behind them.  Note that John is wearing a green shirt - you will never see that again!

Evening at the Hogs Breath Inn.  This eating and drinking establishment used to be owned by Clint Eastwood.  Particularly beautiful at night with the lights

The dinner menu!  We had a lovely meal at the Hogs Breath

Breakfast on the deck of our cottage before heading off for a day of exploration

First stop - Carmel Mission

Pat and Jo at the mission

Pat John and Jo with the fountain

And Lee, too!

Some of the beautiful views at Pt. Lobos.  We had a lovely walk and picnic there

One of the beautiful coves.  You can see that the fog is coming in

We toured this whaler's cabin.  It was interesting (and kinda sad) to see all of the whaling implements and pictures and the way the whalers lived.  So glad that electricity was discovered which saved a lot of whales!

The white sand beach at Carmel

Jo with an ancient cypress on the beach in Carmel

And John and I as well

Boots, anyone?  One of the many interesting shops in Carmel

The Sweet Shop - a cute little shop downtown.  We did a walk around before dinner at a wonderful Mediterranean restaurant!

A stop in Monterrey on the way home
It was a wonderful trip down the coast and good to see some different areas.  The weather was very good to us as well!
